The IZT is a non-profit limited liability company. It addresses the major social challenges with a view to the necessary far-reaching transformation of society. It is committed to sustainability and the ability to shape the future. The IZT's clients are primarily the German federal ministries and their subordinate authorities. The IZT can look back on a successful 40-year history of continuity and change, a strong tradition and a vision for the future.

The IZT's Department of Education and Digital Media is dedicated to the challenge of bringing the great challenge of sustainable development to all areas of education using digital methods. Examples include sustainable nutrition, vocational training for sustainable development, resources, conservation and resource efficiency as well as all topics relating to renewable energies. We have now placed a focus on education with artificial intelligence. We are developing specialised AIs, known as RAGs (Retrieval Augmented Generation), for 82 professions. This enables training and further education that is relevant to the field and free of hallucinations.
